Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Ltd (Mahatransco) – The MSETCL present Chairman and MD is Sri Rajeev Kumar Mital, it was established after restricting the erstwhile Maharashtra State Electricity Board to transmit electricity from point of generation to point of distribution. Mumbai Mahapareshan Quality policy (as per quality objectives ISO 9001) pledges to provide power, reliably, withever improving value and satisfaction to customers.
The circuit of transmission lines are 44715.1498 km and 652 EHV substations with MVA transmission capacity 119212.5. The company uses HVDC lines are power losses low and due to easy availability of coal, where as buck use the power received and injected are same. Mahatransco also has load dispatch center at ambazari and it also planed to establish robust transmission network. It was installed ABT metering 530 substations for energy accounting purposes and implementation of FBSM.
Mahatransco remotely controlled substations and GIS substations at Bhandup and Hinjewadi. Maha Transco adopted the National Training Policy and formed copious equipped training centers at 7 various locations attached to respective zonal offices. Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) – It is a governing body to control certain regulatory and safety functions in Maharashtra based in Mumbai. It was formed under to promote, efficiency, competition and economy. MERC was incorporated under Electricity regularity commission Act 1998
12.10.2017 - Bombay High Court Nagpur Bench directed Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Co Ltd to submit details on cost and time estimate of completing underground work of power cables in city. Earlier the court had taken suo moto cognizance of Times of India reports on electrocution deaths of kids, the result found due to high tension wires close to houses. The court was informed that total 546 houses in city fell into the region. Justice Bhushan Dharmadhikari and Justice Swapna Joshi headed of bench issued notice to MSEDCL and asked to provide completion time and estimated cost of underground cabling projects.
